Jeff Bain
Jeff Bain completed a B.Sc. in Geology at Lakehead University, in Thunder Bay, Canada in 1988, at which time he worked for several years as a geologist at a gold mine in Northern B.C. Jeff completed his M.Sc. in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Waterloo in 1996 and since then has worked there as a research hydrogeochemist. Jeff's research focuses on the investigation and remediation of metal-contaminated groundwater at mining and industrial sites. He conducts field and laboratory studies to determine processes controlling metal release, transport and attenuation, and the long-term performance of waste management and remedial technologies. He makes extensive use of geochemical models, and hydrogeological, geochemical, microbiological and mineralogical information obtained from laboratory and field investigations.
